Origin Gym was built by two people who never wanted to train anywhere else — Kirsten and Hayden Willis.
We're Kirsten and Hayden Willis — a married couple and LSU alumni who've lived in the powerlifting and bodybuilding world for years. Training in gyms across the country, we kept noticing the same thing: the best ones shared a certain community, energy and caliber of equipment. Baton Rouge didn't have it — so we set out to build it.
Origin is that vision made real: a serious, thoughtfully equipped floor that still feels welcoming the moment you walk in. We wanted one room where a first-timer and a competitive bodybuilder both feel at home — with us on the floor to help whenever someone needs it, because advanced equipment should never feel intimidating.
The credentials are there — Hayden set the all-time Louisiana high school deadlift record at 730 lbs, and Kirsten won her class at the 2023 NPC Southern Muscle — but what drives us is watching this community show up, start their journey and grow. That's the whole reason Origin exists.
